![]() Visualizing mathematics for junior high school is a computer oriented learning environment for studying mathematics in the 7th to 9th grades. The curriculum The focus of algebra studies is the concept of function: Using the concept of function, the student can learn about processes and phenomena in the world around us. The concept of function can be used for building the whole fabric of skills and concepts in algebra. The concept of function appears in all algebra topics and organizes them in a logical sequence. The concept of function can be represented in four different ways: verbal, graphic, numeric, and symbolic representations. Forming the connections between the different representations leads towards a deeper and wider understanding, and allows diversified learning processes and varied ways of feedback. The study of geometry is based on inquiry activities by way of conjecturing, and then checking the conjectures, generalizing, and proving them. |
