Examining value tables

Below are value tables for six quadratic functions.
Examine the value tables and try to discover as many properties of the functions as you can. (Does the function have a maximum or a minimum? What are the points of intersection of the graph with the x-axis and the y-axis? Where is the line of symmetry of the graph located? Where is the vertex of the function located?).
  • Sketch what you think the graph of each function will look like.
  • Construct correspondence rules for the functions and use the computer to display their exact graphs.
  • Is there any information about properties of the functions that you found using either the correspondence rules or the graphs (but which you could not have discovered by examining the value tables)? If so, what is this information?
